Wine Cellar and Utility Room in Chelsea, London

This project in Chelsea will take around six months to complete. It is an interesting domestic property in Chelsea where we are installing nine air conditioning units which will include units for a wine cellar as well as other rooms.

Wine cellars need to be professionally conditioned to preserve the wine at the correct ambient temperature and humidity. The wine cellar environment will need to be properly constructed and insulated and actively cooled by our specialist units that will maintain the long-term storage environment of around 12 degrees centigrade with relative humidity of 60 to 65 %. Humidity is especially of importance when wine bottles have corks and this relative humidity and temperature allows wines to slowly mature, reduce any mould growth and keeps corks from drying out. It will also prevent label spoilage. Once a temperature has been set, it should not fluctuate as this can stress the wine and cause expansion and contraction in the wine which in turn puts pressure on the cork and may cause premature leaking and spoilage. Therefore, specialist cooling is essential.

The great vineyards around the world have subterranean caves to store their wines at the required coolness and humidity but this came about by luck in some ways as the Romans mined parts of France for salt and chalk around 80 BC. In the 1600’s winemakers began to use these abandoned underground structures to store their wine. Even modern vineyards construct their own underground caves for storage. To recreate this environment in a domestic property is a challenge but we have the expertise and track record to provide the perfect outcome.

If you are considering a similar project and want to know how best to condition the environment for your wine storage then call us for friendly professional, no obligation advice.

Air Conditioning Services London

Simply Air Conditioning London has been installing, servicing, and repairing air conditioning systems across London and the South East for over 15 years. All engineers are F-Gas certified.

Quote from one of our happy air deflector free trial recipients:

“Our open plan office houses around 100 people. Air distribution and draft was an issue for some of them prior to fitting air deflectors. Since the fitting we’ve not had a single complaint!”

How we got here

Air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome: aqueduct water was passed through walls of houses to cool them. In medieval Persia similar techniques involving the use of cisterns and wind towers were used in the hot season to cool buildings.

Modern air conditioning emerged after advances in 19th Century chemistry, and it was Willis Haviland Carrier who invented and first used a large-scale electrical air conditioning system in 1902.

Air Conditioner Definition

An appliance, unit, system, or machine designed to stabilise the temperature and humidity of air within an area (used for both heating as well as cooling). A refrigeration cycle is the most common method of achieving this although sometimes evaporative coolers are used for comfort cooling inside buildings and vehicles.

Units Installed in a Modular Building In Sudbury, London

The building only has electricity for its heating so the client opted for heat pump units for maximum efficiency.

We were excited to be commissioned for an interesting project in Sudbury, London. The location was a modular building with only electricity available to meet its heating needs. Obviously, electrical heating is a very expensive way of heating a building, especially a commercial one so we put our heads down with the building project managers and came up with a solution for cooling and heat using heat pumps.

Heat pumps are an integral part of an air conditioning system. They work by transferring heat from one area to another one via the refrigerant. Heat pumps are a particularly cost-effective heating method with air source heat pumps recognised as renewable heat technology.

While cooling, the heat pump transfers heat from inside to the outside thus cooling the inside area. To heat an internal space, heat pumps extract heat from the outside air. The pumps operate efficiently even if the outside temperature is down to -20°C. This heat extracted from the atmosphere is directed to heat to the internal spaces. Air source heat pumps provide 100% of heating requirements particularly in temperate climates such as the UK.

The heat pumps today can reduce electricity usage by up to 50% compared to other heating systems. In addition, they have the benefit of dehumidifying better than standard air conditioning resulting in less energy use and more efficient cooling in hot weather. Combined with the inverter technology supplied by the Mitsubishi external units chosen for this project, the heat pump system is particularly efficient, with simple operation and maintenance and usually a lower initial investment.

In total, we installed seven different systems in the building using a combination of ceiling mounted and wall mounted distribution units and of course our bank of external Mitsubishi inverter technology heat pump units.

Fujitsu Air Con Units Supplied and Installed from London to Yorkshire

Fujitsu Air conditioning units supplied and installed anywhere from London to Yorkshire within 7 days.

fujitsu-air-con-units-supplied-and-installed-from-london-to-yorkshire-simply-air-conditioning-london-png

Fujitsu is one of the leading air conditioning manufacturers who we deal with. They are at the forefront of engineering innovation and offer many reliable units for any type of environment. We can supply and install within seven days from London to Yorkshire and all ports in between.

One of the popular products is the high wall mounted air conditioning unit with inverter technology. The good looking product has performance that is not only powerful but energy saving as well. One of the trademarks of Fujitsu engineering is quiet operation and incredible value for money on running costs. The powerful unit delivers all the cooling and heating required, with some models delivering up to three times the energy for every one pound spent. A one pound electricity spend can deliver three pounds value in heat energy. This is certainly it is something to consider when taking energy efficiency into account.

Most air conditioners from Fujitsu are manufactured with different filter types; one filter helps to remove odours and the other helps to remove mould and dust spores from the air. In fact Fujitsu has an advanced deodorising and air purifying filters to absorb other harmful microorganisms as well for a home and workplace environment that is healthy. An inner drying option also prevents the growth of bacteria and mould within the unit giving reassurance the atmosphere is safe and clean.
Fujitsu units are renowned for “whisper quiet” operation with some models including an extra quiet cycle which is ideal for a bedroom or area where a quiet environment is important.
Equally important is the method of operation; some units can be controlled wirelessly, with a wired control or simply manually offering a great choice to the end user
Many of the air conditioners from Fujitsu help with humidity control in the building space. An auto mode lets the unit adjust to appropriate levels once the desired room temperature is reached. AA energy efficiency ratings across all Fujitsu models make them an ideal choice when you are adhering to an environment friendly policy for your buildings management or when making a home or office energy efficient.

Air Conditioning Installation in Clapham

Well, that was a busy week! Fourth install of the week completed at this beautiful and very warm penthouse in Clapham.

simpli-air-conditioning-london-installation-clapham

We had a busy week with four installations that our clients were delighted with. One recent project took place in Clapham in a beautiful penthouse. These days, more people are choosing to install air conditioning unit in their homes not only for cooling down but also as the perfect heating solution.

Clapham was once country side and famed for growing lavender, but through the years has become a bustling London suburb although it retains the magnificent Clapham Common a green area where people jog, walk and relax. It is a vibrant community and is famous for the Clapham Junction railway hub one of the busiest in the country and indeed Europe with 180 trains going through in peak times and some 2000 trains per day. It could be a little noisy if you lived near the station; but as will be seen there is a side benefit if you have air conditioning on noise pollution.

Every person’s home is their haven so it makes sense to make ir as relaxing and as comfortable as you can after a hard day’s work. Regardless of the outside temperature, air conditioning keeps you comfortable all year round.

We came up with a solution four our client in the Clapham penthouse which would fit seamlessly into the designated room, unobtrusively blending in with the fabulous décor. The focus here was to do a clean installation in a timely manner with the minimum of fuss to the clients. As can be seen by the photographs we think we pulled off the brief perfectly. One distinct advantage will be leaving the windows closed on hot days reducing outside noise and disturbance retaining an oasis of calm indoors.

An air conditioning unit such as this one in the home will allow a regulated temperature throughout the property year round. Humidity in the home can also be controlled by an air conditioning unit which reduces any chance of dampness in the atmosphere.

Air Conditioning Unit Installed In Holiday Villa Hotel & Suites, London.

Hotel air conditioning installation

New air conditioning unit installed today in Holiday Villa Hotel & Suites (London) to replace the 20 year old one!

Most hotels these days are in competition with other hotels in their category and often the reason why a potential hotel guest will book with one hotel and not another is down to the facilities on offer. Many hotel guests visit the UK and London from all over the world and are used to certain amenities in their home countries and expect to have the same while visiting. One of the things all hotel guests appreciate is air conditioning. Anyone who has ever stayed in a stifling hotel room with the window open a crack will relate to the discomfort of being too hot in a noisy city when they want to rest, especially if their room is facing the sunny side of the street. In surveys of hotel guests the world over air conditioning is one of the facilities that will help them decide where to stay. Many hotel guests would not choose to stay at a non-air-conditioned hotel at all.

AA rated for efficiency, so the inverter driven unit will save around 60% on previous running costs.

The Holiday Villa Hotel and Suites in London needed to replace their aging 20-year-old air conditioning system and improve efficiency and performance at the same time. With energy costs rising all the time and compliance with government legislation a must, it was our job to provide a system that fulfilled the specification. After we had surveyed the premises and met with the client, we settled on an AA rated inverter driven unit that would reduce energy running costs by 60% due to more efficient performance. This more than fulfilled the brief and the project was successfully completed with little disruption to the day to day running of the hotel. With the new air conditioning system in place, hotel guests are enjoying supreme comfort and the hotel is enjoying the savings of running the air conditioning.

Ac Units Decommision In Kensington, London

We come across some unexpected things from time to time when going about our business installing and decommissioning air conditioning systems and on a decommissioning job in Kensington we came across a terrifying looking spider who had clearly decided to make the old air conditioning unit his home. He certainly is not the usual resident you come across in Kensington.

The spider may have travelled from the beautiful Kensington Gardens or indeed from any of the surrounding places in this densely populated area. Kensington has at its heart the High Street which is famous for its shopping and also the Royal Albert Hall famous for playing host to The Proms and other spectacular events.

In one way, we were lucky to find only a spider during the decommissioning in contrast to some of our overseas colleagues who regularly come across everything from snakes to skunks hiding away in the unit!

Decommissioning is something we take very seriously and it can be complex as we have to work in accordance with the correct practices and procedures for decommissioning air conditioning and heat pump devices. We need to work in accordance with current industry standards and regulations using recognised working practices. One of the most important things is to avoid any leaks of refrigerant gases so we work with care. Record keeping and compliance with waste management practices legislation is vital so it is a very big checklist we adhere to because our priority is to ensure everything is managed properly.

While there is no legislation on record on how to deal with spiders in the decommissioning process, we think our six legged friend while upset at losing his cosy nook has probably taken up residence in a neighbouring unit!

Air Deflectors Installed In An Office Near Hatton Gardens, London

We returned to the offices in Clerkenwell and completed the installation of the fibreglass air deflectors. We were delighted that the client was so pleased with the original so it was our pleasure to return and add another eight deflectors around the offices. As can be seen from the photo, the offices are quite stylish and the deflectors actually add a really on trend feel to the décor. Our team always feel pleased when a job is so appreciated by the client.

These deflectors can also be used in situations where desk layouts mean some people can be a little on the cool side and others are not. This is usually in relation to where a desk is sited under the ceiling cassette. It is not always old draughty air conditioning systems that need them. Personal preferences often mean some people do not enjoy the temperature and air flow that others do. In large open plan offices for example people sitting directly under a ceiling mounted unit can be too cold, while others in the same area may not feel the benefits.

Air Deflectors fit on different sizes of air conditioning cassettes and can definitely improve the aesthetics of the working environment as we have discovered. The deflectors are positioned directly the air conditioning cassette redirect the flow of air to the area needed most, allowing control over the area at a more constant air flow.

The air deflectors are very low maintenance and nothing is required other than to keep them dusted during regular cleaning maintenance. All in all, these fibreglass air deflectors are a simple and efficient solution to dispersing air flow neatly. It certainly avoids installing a whole new air conditioning system if the system is operating fine except for some chilly patches.

Fujitsu Indoor Units Installation Linked To Outdoor Condenser Units In Endfield, London

Winding down for Christmas?……not yet!

Not until we’ve installed these 9 Fujitsu indoor units linked to 5 outdoor condenser units that will provide the main source of heating and comfort cooling to this office in Enfield.

The project for this office in Enfield began with our usual site survey and project meetings with the client. We documented the existing office and then performed our calculations and drew up the plans required to ensure the most efficient air conditioning system at the best value for the client. Our primary survey looked at the existing building conditions but we also need to know how many people will be seated in the space, the size of the space and the number of windows. All of this information feeds into our final calculations. This project utilised Fujitsu products and involved 9 indoor units connected to 5 outdoor condenser units.

There are several ratings we need to use in the design process. The first is British Thermal Unit Rating (BTU).This rating represents the heat the air conditioning unit can remove from internal space. Higher ratings mean more heat is removed, so defining the correct size is essential for our project. Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) is another rating we use. This one tells us how much energy is needed for the air conditioning device to operate efficiently. Higher EER ratings use less energy but are more expensive to purchase but usually result in cheaper energy bills over a five year period.

Temperature control is useful in office applications. Controls can be manual or programmable and some can be operated by a remote control. It can be useful for building maintenance staff to be able to override the temperature in times of extreme heat or cold. Heat pump technology brings further efficiency to winter heating.

This air conditioning system is typical of most forward thinking offices these days as staff really appreciate a comfortable working environment avoiding some of the usual non-air conditioned office hazards such as wind and fans blowing paperwork around and computers switching off when the heat gets too much. This project utilised Fujitsu products and involved 9 indoor units connected to 5 outdoor condenser units.
