Fibreglass Air Deflector Installation In Clerkenwell, London

Solved a big problem at a recruitment office in Clerkenwell today.

There is nothing worse than sitting in your place of work feeling cold and sitting in a draught. In fact, there is legislation about the comfort of employees and it is the responsibility of the employer to ensure the health and wellbeing of their staff. When a recruitment company in Clerkenwell contacted us, about their draughty air conditioning problem, we were able to provide them with a solution. The installation of a fibreglass ceiling mounted deflector, solved the problem with immediate effect. The employees whose desks were affected were delighted and the company immediately ordered another eight deflectors for the rest of the building!

When air conditioning equipment is selected and installed correctly there should be no draughts. However, if desks are swapped around or a building is commissioned for another purpose it can turn out that draughts which had gone unnoticed become apparent. Sometimes draughts may be caused by the wrong type of installation such as a system that runs at a higher capacity than is required for the space. This will cause draughts and fluctuating temperatures.

Draughts from cold air are uncomfortable as anyone who has had the misfortune to sit in one can attest. Many people in air conditioned offices resort to wearing thick jumpers and it can be miserable. The cold draughts can result in muscle stiffness, pain and of course will affect productivity of staff members. Luckily the resolution of air conditioning draught problems such as these is easily resolved. The solution is simple and quick, and the installation of the fiberglass deflectors gives an immediate effect. They also look really quite on trend and modern so for most offices will add to the décor as well as restoring the working environment to a place of comfort and a perfect ambient temperature.

This time, the ceiling cassettes were causing uncomfortable draughts due to the desk layout.
We installed a fibreglass air deflector which was so effective they immediately ordered another eight!

Quote from one of our happy air deflector free trial recipients:

“Our open plan office houses around 100 people. Air distribution and draft was an issue for some of them prior to fitting air deflectors. Since the fitting we’ve not had a single complaint!”

How we got here

Air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome: aqueduct water was passed through walls of houses to cool them. In medieval Persia similar techniques involving the use of cisterns and wind towers were used in the hot season to cool buildings.

Modern air conditioning emerged after advances in 19th Century chemistry, and it was Willis Haviland Carrier who invented and first used a large-scale electrical air conditioning system in 1902.

Air Conditioner Definition

An appliance, unit, system, or machine designed to stabilise the temperature and humidity of air within an area (used for both heating as well as cooling). A refrigeration cycle is the most common method of achieving this although sometimes evaporative coolers are used for comfort cooling inside buildings and vehicles.

Ceiling Mounted Cassettes Air Conditioner Installed in a Restaurant, Kew Gardens, London

This project was an installation for a restaurant fit out in Kew near the site of the famous Kew Gardens. What some people may not know is Kew Botanical Gardens are the largest UNESCO World Heritage site in London offering vistas, iconic landscapes, and unique architecture from each period of the Gardens’ history. The living plant collection is the most diverse and largest in the world growing in our nurseries and glasshouses or out in the open. The area around the gardens is delightful with many interesting shops, restaurants and bars.

Our project planning and discussions with the client enabled us to come up with an air conditioning solution that not only met the client’s brief but offered extra value in the way of unit efficiency and running costs. It was by no means the easiest of projects but the finished result is definitely something to be proud of and will provide excellent service to the client for many years to come.

It was decided to install two ceiling mounted cassettes to cool and heat the restaurant by means of a Fujitsu inverter air conditioning device. The advantage of inverter technology comes up again and again as there is no impact of the electrical supply at start up and the smooth, consistent and economical running makes it the first choice of technology for many clients. Once they see the cost savings after the payback period, they are extremely satisfied.

Ceiling mounted cassette units work in exactly the same fashion as wall mounted split systems, the only difference being that one type of unit is ceiling mounted-hung and the other is wall mounted. The indoor ceiling mounted cassette sits flush to the ceiling and seamlessly distributes the clean air through the built in grilles. Grilles may be located on two three or four sides of the unit depending on the room characteristics.

With our experienced team of professionals, we were able to complete the project in just one day.

Ceiling Mounted Unit Installed in Muswel Hill, London

Ceiling Mounted Unit Installation in Muswell Hill

This project was a commercial one for the retail giant John Lewis in Muswell Hill, London. There are many benefits for retailers installing air conditioning and government legislation already recommends it for retail warehouses although air conditioning remains optional for retail stores. A comfortable environment helps in keeping customers in the store longer and extra time spent in a retail environment usually converts to sales. A comfortable ambient temperature is also important for the comfort of employees and is proven to improve performance of staff.

Ceiling Mounted Unit Installation in Muswell Hill

One of the largest benefits in retail air conditioning is that it enables the air quality to be controlled as well as the temperature. Store managers can adapt to the weather conditions to keep things comfortable which is important especially in the John Lewis store where customers will be spending a long time assessing the kitchen layouts and accessories for their own kitchen designs. For customers making large purchases that will keep them in the store for perhaps a couple of hours, feeling comfortable is vital otherwise they may just leave to visit a rival store!

Another important aspect is retailers need to comply with the latest government energy emission reductions and an efficient air conditioning unit helps in these compliance matters. Our expertly installed ceiling mounted unit not only fits seamlessly and diffuses air in an even flow, it is energy efficient and attractive so a winning combination. A ceiling mounted unit also maximises space for the retailer leaving the whole wall space able to be used for display purposes. The ceiling mounted unit ensures quiet operation and easy air flow with no direct blasts or draughts and is easily installed flush with ceilings leaving a neat, unobtrusive installation.

Air Conditioning Installation In Wembley (London)

Air Conditioning Installation In Wembley.

This installation at a major concrete works in Wembley (home of the famous stadium) was very interesting because of the type of business. It was fascinating to see how the process worked. Our client was interested in a wall mounted installation for their needs and we went through our project planning in detail with the client outlining all the available options. The decision was made to use a Fujitsu 5KW inverter air conditioning unit.

Simply Air Conditioning London - AC Installation Wembley

There is always a discussion about the preference for inverter or non-inverter technology and there are advantages for each type. In the next few paragraphs, we will give a brief overview of how inverter technology works and the advantages it brings.

On starting up any mechanical device, there is usually a power surge or spike. With powerful devices, these power surges can result in higher running costs because of the amount of power required to start up the device. It can also impact on the surrounding electrical devices and for example may make lights dim or flicker for a few seconds while it starts. This could be critical in a business where other machinery or IT equipment is operating

An inverter is similar to a car accelerator. Instead of a massive power surge, an inverter powers up slowly and smoothly. The startup process is therefore more environment friendly and more economical. Some researchers suggest savings of up to 30% may be made with inverter technology which is of great interest to any business owner.

Inverter systems are usually quiet running and have less fluctuations in temperature giving an even atmosphere at all times. While the initial cost of inverter systems is initially more expensive than a non-inverter system, the payback period is relatively short and thereafter the energy savings make for cheaper running costs.

Fujitsu Air Conditioning Installation in Chiswick

We certainly cover a lot of ground with our different projects and this installation at a Honda dealership took us to Chiswick West London which once upon a time was part of the county of Middlesex. The location was very near to our home base which avoided too much travelling and was useful for keeping in touch with HQ! Chiswick is a very popular residential area and is full of historic buildings. The section of the River Thames that runs by Chiswick is very popular for competitive rowing.

It is important for organisations such as Honda to provide a pleasant environment for their customers and staff. They deal with expensive products so consumers expect to find an atmosphere of professionalism, efficiency and excellent customer service. Having the right air quality and temperature is an important part of customer experience.

The system chosen for Honda comprises of three Fujitsu units mounted on the roof with wall mounted air conditioning units in each of the office spaces.

The wall mounted units are unobtrusive and quiet in operation while maintaining the desired temperature within the rooms and offices. In common with all Fujitsu devices, this installation offered the client highly efficient compact designs, low ambient operation, powerful operation and economy operation options.

Some famous residents from around these parts include the author E.M. Forster, artists William Hogarth and Camille Pissarro. More recent residents include many from the performing arts as Chiswick is so conveniently located for travelling to central London, Heathrow airport and various film studios. In fact, we had some famous visitors while we were working on the project in the form of James May and Richard Hammond of Top Gear fame before moving on from the BBC to their new television series. There were a few Top Gear jokes naturally enough.

Despite the banter with these famous faces, we completed the project on time much to the delight of our clients Honda Chiswick.
