Air Conditioning Installation in Kennington

We went off to install air conditioning in the meeting room of a record company in Kennington district, London. We kept our eyes peeled for any famous artistes that might be lurking but no luck, so it was straight down to work. The meeting room in offices is here to stay and everyone has experienced a fuggy over heated room where people are trying to keep their eyes open and pay attention.
Often in cities like London, older buildings can become extremely hot during summer months and without cooling makes life exceedingly difficult for workers. This in turn obviously causes a lack of productivity so many companies are turning to air conditioning for key areas.
Air conditioning in meeting rooms, like in this record company, is important as rooms of this type may contain large numbers of people in a limited space for extended periods and frequently need windows closed to prevent external traffic and aircraft noise. Often, there is additional heat generated from lighting, projectors, and computers. If food is served in the meeting, controlling food smells is important. The benefits of an airconditioned meeting room are many. Stagnant and stale air is not good
for health and allows airborne particles and bacteria to linger. Coughs, colds, and viruses can be easily transmitted. Purified air at a ambient temperature keeps people comfortable, alert, and able to perform efficiently. The temperature can be easily controlled by means of a remote control or wall mounted control panel. This means the comfort can be maintained throughout if temperature builds up or it becomes too cool. The air is constantly being refreshed and the right levels of humidity are maintained. A single in room unit can be efficient as it does not necessarily need to be in use full time; it can be switched on before
meetings but equally there is not much extra overhead if it is kept on full time.

“Our open plan office houses around 100 people. Air distribution and draft was an issue for some of them prior to fitting air deflectors. Since the fitting we’ve not had a single complaint!”

How we got here

Air conditioning is known to have been applied in Ancient Rome: aqueduct water was passed through walls of houses to cool them. In medieval Persia similar techniques involving the use of cisterns and wind towers were used in the hot season to cool buildings.

Modern air conditioning emerged after advances in 19th Century chemistry, and it was Willis Haviland Carrier who invented and first used a large-scale electrical air conditioning system in 1902.

Air Conditioner Definition

An appliance, unit, system, or machine designed to stabilise the temperature and humidity of air within an area (used for both heating as well as cooling). A refrigeration cycle is the most common method of achieving this although sometimes evaporative coolers are used for comfort cooling inside buildings and vehicles.

AC Maintenance In a Gym At Elephant and Castle

Posted on March 5, 2019 by Jonathan

AC Maintenance at Elephant Castle

Servicing is so important to make sure your #heatpump #ac unit is running efficiently. Especially at this time of year.
Blocked filters can reduce efficiency by upto 50% as we found out at this Gym in #elephantandcastle

We were off to Air Conditioning Elephant and Castle today. It is one of London’s famous boroughs and was cited by Antonio in Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night. He says, “In the south suburbs, at the Elephant, is best to lodge.” Apparently, Shakespeare would often reference London in his plays possibly because the theatres were in Southwark within this general area. Perhaps “The Elephant” paid him commission for getting punters through the door!

Our job today was a maintenance task to assure an air conditioning system. Without maintenance an air conditioning system can reduce significantly in efficiency which causes an increase in energy usage as well as causing potential harm to components. The performance of the system declines and if neglected for too long, it can break down completely.

Air Conditioning Maintenance Elephant And Castle

Regular maintenance is essential on the filters, fins, and coils for the unit to keep efficiently functioning. One most important maintenance task that will ensure the efficiency of the air conditioning unit is routine maintenance of the filter or replacement. A clogged or dirty filter can reduce airflow and will allow dirty air to bypass the filter into the coils preventing heat absorbing capacity. The filter was blocked quite badly at this location by 50%! No wonder there were issues. Bearing in mind this system is in a gym, it is under permanent pressure, so it is important the filter is changed every couple of months.

The evaporator coil and condenser coil during months and years of service accumulate dirt and will be cleaned as part of regular maintenance. There are coils outdoors also which gather dirt. This is especially so if there is debris and foliage nearby or just everyday pollution. It is important to keep the area around the unit clear.

Our maintenance programme will give you peace of mind and include checks for the correct amount of refrigerant , leaks, seal checks, airflow measurements, controllers, replacement of filters, cleaning and checks for accuracy and efficiency of system.
