This project was an installation for a restaurant fit out in Kew near the site of the famous Kew Gardens. What some people may not know is Kew Botanical Gardens are the largest UNESCO World Heritage site in London offering vistas, iconic landscapes, and unique architecture from each period of the Gardens’ history. The living plant collection is the most diverse and largest in the world growing in our nurseries and glasshouses or out in the open. The area around the gardens is delightful with many interesting shops, restaurants and bars.

Our project planning and discussions with the client enabled us to come up with an air conditioning solution that not only met the client’s brief but offered extra value in the way of unit efficiency and running costs. It was by no means the easiest of projects but the finished result is definitely something to be proud of and will provide excellent service to the client for many years to come.

It was decided to install two ceiling mounted cassettes to cool and heat the restaurant by means of a Fujitsu inverter air conditioning device. The advantage of inverter technology comes up again and again as there is no impact of the electrical supply at start up and the smooth, consistent and economical running makes it the first choice of technology for many clients. Once they see the cost savings after the payback period, they are extremely satisfied.

Ceiling mounted cassette units work in exactly the same fashion as wall mounted split systems, the only difference being that one type of unit is ceiling mounted-hung and the other is wall mounted. The indoor ceiling mounted cassette sits flush to the ceiling and seamlessly distributes the clean air through the built in grilles. Grilles may be located on two three or four sides of the unit depending on the room characteristics.
