Air Conditioning Rat Rage Aboard Train!

We doubt that an incident of this kind would happen on British Rail but you never know! We are grateful to The Times of India for this story of a pack of rogue rats that not only disabled the air conditioning on a train but also then proceeded to attack the passengers and railway train operatives. The incident happened before a journey and caused huge disruption to the train and the railway schedules. We are not fond of rats at the best of times and would not be keen to find them in any of our air conditioning systems! The story unfolds thus:

“BAHRAICH: Rats caused massive problems to people on the Rapti Sagar Express on Sunday September 12th 2012. The train was going to Thiruvananthapuram from Gorakhpur. The rodents cut the wiring of the air conditioning in one of the coaches of the train leading to an inconvenience for several passengers. The rats also injured some people and caused delays in the train’s scheduled departure.

On information given by the railway coach conductor and passengers, the railways personnel reached the train but failed to catch the rats. The passengers who were injured were given primary treatment at the Gonda railway station and finally the train departed. Area manager of the railway Nyaymurti told the Times of India that wiring in the AC coach was repaired.

Passengers said that the rats first cut the AC wiring and then attacked several passengers. One passenger, RK Srivastava, resident of Chhapra, Bihar, travelling to Coimbato said the staff on the train were informed about passengers, including Rakesh, Ramesh, Imran and Seema, besides himself, getting bitten. The coach attendant informed the Basti Railway station about the incident but the stationmaster did not take the call and the train departed from there without anyone attending to the problem. Once the train reached Gonda, a team of the railway hospital medics reached the affected railway coach and administered medical aid to the injured.”

Some of the stories we hear about are amazing and it is extraordinary how truth always seems to outdo fiction, you really could not make things like this up. Maybe Hollywood or more likely Bollywood could make a feature film a la Hitchcock’s “The Birds” called “The Rats” featuring huge Bollywood sound stage song and dance numbers featuring the passengers escaping the rats!

Joking aside, it is important to have air conditioning systems regularly maintained to ensure there is no damage to wiring and this is carried out in periodic maintenance checks. We offer very reasonable packages and if you have an inverter system, a check up before deep winter is essential to make sure you will be kept warm throughout the cold season.

Why not call us today for a chat to book your winter maintenance check.
