But what are the objectives of the F-Gas regulation?

Well, the main objective is to reduce emissions F gases, which are fluorinated greenhouse gases. It is for the good of the environment and part of the global attempt to control the changes to climate as laid out in the Kyoto Protocol. The regulation should contribute significantly towards the Kyoto target. Containment and recovery of f-gases are of prime concern, as is the restriction of marketing and use of the gases in air conditioning units and other appliances where their containment is not easy to uphold. There is also a restriction on marketing and use of F-gases where their use is considered inappropriate such as when there are suitable alternatives.
